Why Should I Become a Certified Trusted Adult Ally?

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

Not every student has the benefit of caring friendships, healthy relationships, access to an adult ally, or a stable and happy home. But, every student deserves and needs a "trusted adult" in their lives, especially when they are going through interpersonal violence (bullying, dating abuse, sexual violence, domestic violence, gender-based violence, harassment, cyber abuse, and stalking). Are you ready to step up for the young people in your life and become a Trusted Adult Ally?

Here are a few reasons why becoming a Trusted Adult Ally is SO important! ⬇️

Support the students and teens in your life

Raising awareness isn’t enough. Trusted Adults in the lives of youth need the knowledge to recognize the signs, the skills to respond appropriately, and the confidence to reframe policies and actions to prevent the root causes of interpersonal violence.

Improve your own healthy relationship-building skills

Setting an example of how to build healthy relationships and practice self-care is just as important as teaching these skills to youth. Learn to recognize your own boundaries and ways to take care of yourself, while supporting others.

Build your professional development toolkit

The Trusted Adult Ally Certification demonstrates that you care about the social and emotional well-being and safety of young people, as well as gives you the tools to enhance your work with youth.
